New Touareg's price announced

The new Volkswagen Touareg's price was announced. It will be £29,500 and the sales will begin in March.

This new model has 2.5-litre TDI, rising to £57,535 for the range-topping Altitude five-litre V10 TDI.

The difference between the old Touareg and the new one consists in 2300 parts replaced. The new face of the car looks like the Eos coupe cabriolet.

The Touareg features a new grille section, re-profiled headlights framing a new bumper and a pair of more aerodynamic wing mirrors. At the rear the light clusters are replaced by new units with two pronounced circular lenses.

The changes continue inside where the interior has new leather finishes and redesigned front seats plus a revised instrument panel incorporating a new multifunction display.

Three versions will be offered comprising Touareg, SE and Altitude.

The engine line-up remains unchanged with the option of a single petrol 3.6-litre V6 or the choice of three diesel engines in 2.5-litre, three-litre or five-litre V10 guises.

The 3.6-litre V6, three-litre TDI and five-litre V10 TDI engines are all fitted with six-speed automatic gearboxes while the 2.5-litre TDI retains a six-speed manual gearbox with the option of an automatic gearbox.

Since its launch in May 2003 just over 10,500 Touaregs have been bought in the UK, almost half of which are the top-of-the range Altitude versions.
